Elizabeth Ethel Remenyi
November 2, 1920 - November 23, 2021
After months of enduring physical distress Elizabeth Remenyi, 101, went to her eternal home with the Lord on November 23, 2021. Born in Budapest, Hungary, she, together with her husband and two daughters, escaped from Hungary after the 1956 Revolution and immigrated to the U.S., settling first in Monterey then the SF Bay Area. She worked for the Bank of America for 20 years. Upon retiring in 1978, she and her husband Edward, who predeceased her in 2003, moved to Seven Hills in Hemet where she remained until her death. She was known there as the “Flag Lady” because when she noticed the tattered flag in front of the clubhouse she bought and donated a new flag to the Members Club for Flag Day in 2004. A couple of years after her husband’s passing, Elizabeth was often seen at Seven Hills events and activities with her dear friend and devoted companion Roland Picotte, who also predeceased her in 2015. She was loved by many, will be deeply missed, and will forever be in our hearts. She is survived by her children, Maria Cantrell of San Jacinto and Elizabeth Chapman of Sisters, Oregon; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet. Flowers, if desired, may be sent to the funeral home.
