Updated Guidelines for Funeral Services during COVID-19

Updated Guidelines for Funeral Services during COVID-19

The CDC, CDH and County of Riverside has issued the following guidelines related to funerals in our area. To protect our families and members of our staff, we will be adhering to these guidelines as well as implementing some of our own.

In summary:

  • You can still have services and/or visitations up to 25% capacity of our chapels. This includes staff and clergy.
  • Rotating groups of people are now allowed at 30-minute intervals for visitations.
  • Services should be brief in order to eliminate people being in close proximity for extended periods of time and to discourage attendees from breaking physical distances.
  • Families will be screened via questionnaire before entering our facilities.
  • Anyone who uses the microphone and podium in chapels MUST wear a mask.
  • Live webcasting or video streaming of services is an option, with a public gathering to be held at a later date if desired.
  • Arrangements can be made at one of our funeral homes (up to 2 people allowed in room), or from your home utilizing telephone/conference calling, email, and e-signature technology.
  • Children are allowed, but must be with a family member at all times. Children may not interact with other children or parties, and must maintain physical distance. No masks are required for children under 2 years of age.
  • Decedents can be embalmed and preserved using proper industry practices.
  • Decedents can be buried or cremated.
  • Staff are required to stay home if they display any signs of illness.
  • A maximum of 10 people are allowed in a room, including staff members.
  • Menifee Valley Cemetery will allow those who attended a funeral service at our facility to also attend the graveside service immediately following.
  • Graveside service alone will still be limited to 10 people, including staff and clergy.

In addition to these guidelines, Miller-Jones is limiting the number of our own staff during services and in-person meetings in order to allow for more family members to be present.

We are dedicated to providing our community with the best services possible during this unprecedented time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions or concerns.
