Honoring Our Veterans

Honoring Our Veterans

We at Miller Jones have a deep and longstanding respect for the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serve our country. We proudly employ veterans and have established enduring connections within our communities, including close relationships with Post 53 and Riverside National Cemetery, one of the largest military cemeteries in the nation. Veterans funerals make up 25% of all services at Miller Jones.

We believe our soldiers should be honored with distinction and grace, while providing comfort and guidance to their families. A military funeral put on by Miller Jones is graceful and dignified while personally tailored to the individual’s personality and the needs of their family. Every eligible veteran is entitled to receive military funeral honors if their family requests it. A military funeral honors ceremony includes the following traditions free of charge:

A minimum of 2 honor guards

Rifle salute

Draping of the flag on casket

Folding and presentation of the flag to the family

Bugler to play Taps

A military funeral service for veterans can also include drumming, color guard, honor guards to serve as pallbearers, a caisson, military flyover, or burial at sea, depending on the available resources and personnel. At Miller Jones, we offer a unique Jeep caisson to be included in the funeral procession, as well as an online memorial, and options for personal touches. For information on veterans funeral services and eligibility, please visit our Veterans Services page.

Each member of our staff at every one of our funeral home locations—Hemet, San Jacinto, Menifee, Perris, Moreno Valley, and Murrieta—is an expert in veterans burial benefits and have extensive knowledge in helping secure the benefits each eligible veteran deserves and what each individual qualifies for. For example, if a veteran passed away at a VA hospital, they are automatically entitled to a minimum amount of money. We diligently assist families in finding every government resource available.

Military honors and VA burial benefits can also be arranged in advance. Preplanning your own veterans funeral service has many benefits, namely taking care of a slew of details so that your family won’t have be burdened with them while dealing with their loss. It also saves money, as it protects you from inflated costs when the time comes.

We understand that a conversation about something like this can be difficult to have with your family. Our staff has helped walk many people through the process, and we always hear from families telling us what a relief it was to be able to grieve with their loved ones instead of being weighed down by funeral details.

It is an honor to be there for the families of those who served our country, and we will continue to be a steadfast source of guidance, comfort and support for our military communities. Every year, we show appreciation for all vets in our area with our own salute. We hope you will turn to Miller Jones Mortuary and Crematory in your time of need.
