Mrs. Lila M Mars of Norwalk, California passed away peacefully in her home on April 26, 2022, at the age of 97. Lila entered into life on February 12, 1925 in Bovina, Texas; she was the daughter of the late Victor M Martinez and the late Josefita Duran. Lila’s childhood with her family was in Tucunari, New Mexico. She entered in the US Army in February 14, 1945, and completed her service in May 1948. Lila received the America Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and a fourth ribbon as the meritorious unit award. Lila was one of the first female sergeants in the Army. However, with the most important events in Mrs. Lila’s life was the birth of her four children. She dedicated her time as nurse working in health care for over 15 years. Lila was known for her kindness and was willing to help anyone in need. She would give you the shirt off her back to help. Her favorite pastimes were reading and sewing. Lila always enjoyed spending time with her family during the holidays. A funeral service will be at 12:00PM on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Miller-Jones Mortuary located at 1835 North Perris Blvd. Perris, CA 92571. A committal service to follow at 1:30PM held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside, CA 92518.
