Jacqueline Anderson
June 16, 1933 - October 5, 2021
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and longtime Hemet Valley resident, Jacqueline L. Anderson passed away peacefully at her home in the company of her two daughters. She was 88 years old. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 60+ years, Bob Anderson, in 2015. Jackie was born in 1933 in Rosebud, South Dakota. She was a private person and few knew that she was a registered member of the Pine Ridge Reservation where she spent her early years. She was the oldest of eight siblings. Her family settled in the capital of South Dakota, Pierre, where she met her future husband, Bob, in the second grade. It was the beginning of their 75-year relationship. Jackie graduated from Pierre High School and was named South Dakota Snow Queen in 1952. Jackie was 21 when she and Bob were married in Pierre. Around the same time, Bob had been drafted in the U.S. Army. She also began her career specializing in probate and estate planning that she enjoyed so much. The following year, Bob boarded a troop ship and headed to his post as an electrician in Germany. Jackie joined him in Germany and they enjoyed traveling throughout Europe seeing such places as the French Riviera. After their return from Germany, they moved to Vermillion, South Dakota where Bob finished his last year of college and she worked at the University of South Dakota campus radio station. There they celebrated the birth of their first child, Nancy. Then, the young family moved to back to Pierre where their second child, Michael, was born. Tired of the cold weather, Bob mailed numerous resumes to schools in the west and southwest seeking a position teaching music. He accepted an offer to teach high school band in Hawthorne, Nevada. With two cars, two trailers, and two kids under the age of 3, Bob and Jackie drove from Pierre to Hawthorne. This was the first leg of their migration westward. Seeing Hawthorne for the first time, Jackie broke down in tears. They would only live in Hawthorne for four years, just long enough for the birth of their third child, Joan. In 1965, Bob accepted a position with the Hemet Unified School District and the family moved west again to Hemet, California. After the kids were of school age, Jackie resumed her career applying her knowledge and talent at Best, Best, and Krieger, Amschel Law Corporation, and the Law Offices of Cox & Cox. She retired from the Law Offices of Cox & Cox in 1996. Jackie loved animals and adopted many cats and dogs throughout her life; she always had a soft spot for stray and needy pets and continued to leave food and water out for the feral cats that visited her backyard. Jackie’s favorite places to vacation with the family were the beaches in North San Diego County and Newport Beach. She also enjoyed going out to eat be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Jackie is survived by five siblings, three children, three grandchildren, and her 15+ year old rescue Maltese dog. She will be joining Bob in the Riverside National Cemetery preceded by a private service.
