Anthony P. Zografides

Anthony or “Tony Z.”, born to Peter and Katina Zografides of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away in Rancho Springs Hospital on February 8, 2022 due to natural causes. He was 82 years old. Anthony and his older brother George were born to Greek Immigrants who settled down in Youngstown, Ohio after traveling to America. Tony loved automobiles and learned to repair them before entering the military. At the age of 23 Tony joined the U.S. Army Reserves as an Automobile Mechanic. He left with an Honorable Discharge. A few years after the military, Tony took a trip, through the advice of the good friend, to Southern California where he fell in love with the people, sights and warm weather. Soon after returning home he packed up and moved to the Southern California coastal town of Newport Beach. After taking on numerous construction jobs for others, Tony soon branched out with his own business of making built in cabinets, shelving and fireplace mantles.”Newport Mantle” (Tony’s business) was well known for decades as a place to go for one-of-a-kind, hand-tooled, intricately carved wooden fireplace mantles. Anthony married his second wife Stella on May 11,1991. They resided in the Orange County area until 2018 when he retired and moved to Murrieta, CA. Tony was a loving husband who enjoyed spending his final years at home with his wife. He is survived by his wife-Stella, his brother George, and his nephews Peter and Chris.
