Abbie Bannister Yrizarry

November 13, 1923 - January 20, 2022

Abbie K. Bannister Yrizarry was born on 13 November 1923 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents were Andrew Tel Bannister of Honolulu, Hawaii and Josephine Kekulalani Bertlemann of Pilaa, Kauai, Hawaii. She died peacefully at her home in Fallbrook on 20 January 2022 at the age of 98. Abbie grew to adulthood in Maile, Oahu, Hawaii with her eleven siblings, and married Nelson (Melsy) Carvalho Yrizarry on October 4, 1940 in Waianae, Oahu. Together Abbie and Nelson had 6 children: Yvette Nani Brazil (Richard), Nelson Yrizarry, Jr. (Pyanat), Benjamin Roy Yrizarry (Diane), Lenore Wihelmina Bernard (Roger), Tyronne Barry Yrizarry (Reatha), and Adrian Nowlen Yrizarry (Jackie Louise). Together Abbie had twenty-six Grandchildren, forty-six Great–Grandchildren, and four Great-Great-Grandchildren. During her lifetime, she enjoyed getting together with her family whom she loved very much. She enjoyed the outdoors and working with plants while gardening in her yard. Abbie loved to play cards with her family and friends. She lived as a devout Roman Catholic her entire lifetime and loved The Lord very much. Funeral Mass and services will be private, and she will be buried at the Riverside Veterans Cemetery, Riverside, California alongside her husband of sixty-one years, at a later date. In lieu of flowers family has kindly requested donations to be made to St. Jude Shrine in Baltimore Maryland or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
